INKWELL
Readers deserve tools that fit how they actually read, so I designed a mobile app to make tracking progress more flexible, intuitive, and reflective of real reading habits.

The problem
Goodreads makes simple book logging unnecessarily difficult.
Through my own experience and by reviewing hundreds of user comments across the App Store, Google Play, and Goodreads’ own community forums, I identified three recurring issues:
1
Inefficient task flow
Too many screens make updates tedious, causing users to abandon tasks
2
Limited options
Lacks 1/2 star ratings, limiting detailed feedback
3
Outdated Interface
The app’s UI, unchanged for years, makes it feel unintuitive
ANIMATED PROTOTYPE
The OUTCOME
"Polished and professional […] impressive across several aspects."
Feedback from others recognized that Inkwell balanced usability, engagement, and personality. Nuanced reading statuses and playful interactions, like the mascot, were noted as intuitive and enjoyable.
This feedback reinforced the value of designing for user needs and considering small interaction details, insights I carry forward into future projects.
